What are the signs you’re on the right track?

When you get entrenched in a fitness regimen over a long period of time, you tend to stop noticing it’s there. It’s just part of your daily routine, no need to inspect it closely. But you should definitely inspect it closely, because there is always a chance your regimen isn’t doing what it’s supposed to be doing for you. When a fitness regimen is on the right track, you should be seeing a handful of positive signs. If you aren’t experiencing these signs, you may need to reevaluate.

Firstly, your physical health is closely tied to your mental health. When your fitness regimen hits all the right buttons, you become healthier, and when you become healthier, your mood tends to improve. It’s a well-documented fact that physical activity blows off steam, so people with a good regimen tend to just be happier in general. If your workout feels like a chore and is just bothering you, something may need adjusting.

When you’re in better shape, your body tends to start craving healthier foods, too. Your body just sort of instinctively knows that it needs certain vitamins and minerals, so you may find yourself gravitating away from unhealthy snacks. I can tell you from experience that eating something really heavy right after a workout feels absolutely awful. Had to learn that lesson the hard way.

Most of all, productive daily exercise burns off excess energy, so when it’s time to turn in for the day, you tend to have a much sounder, more restful sleep. After all, you spent all that time tearing up your muscles, your body’s gonna need the down time to sew them all back together bigger and better. You may not be hitting the necessary intensity of your workout if you’re still having trouble sleeping.
