It’s that time of year when there’s constantly yummy food around.
You may be eating a little more than normal, or indulging in some heavy foods. You shouldn’t feel bad about treating yourself, it is the holidays after all, but your body may fight back with uncomfortable bloating and gas.
Even if you’re at home with family and don’t have access to your gym, there are some exercises you can do to help combat the bloat, and to get you back to normal. As a bonus, a little exercise can also help offset some of that rich food, allowing you to maintain the physique you’ve been rocking the rest of the year.
Do A Cardio Warm Up
The first thing to do when you’re feeling bloated is to get moving. This could be as simple as going for a brisk walk or a short bike ride. Try to fit in 10 minutes of some sort of cardio. Jumping jacks, jogging in place or jump rope are great if you’re inside or don’t have a lot of space. Cardio can also help you release some gas that’s built up in your body, so don’t be afraid to let a little noise out if you know what I mean.
Engage The Core
Since bloating and gas manifests in the stomach, one of the best ways to combat those effects is to work on core strength. After your cardio warm up do some core training with these exercises.
Sit-ups x 12 reps
Crunches x 12 reps
Plank x 30 seconds
Bicycle Crunches x 12 reps
Once you’ve done these moves, stretch it out with some gentle yoga poses. Twists are especially good for bloat! After just 20 minutes, you should be feeling much better!
