Greet the day properly, even if you don’t have anywhere to be.
I am a creature of habit. In fact, I would go as far as to say that my habits went a long way toward keeping me sane during the whole pandemic situation. People always expound about how wonderful life would be if you could do something completely different every day. Maybe that’s fun for some, but me, I need my regularity, and the first step is a proper morning routine.
The first thing you should do upon waking up, whether it be on your own or thanks to your alarm clock, is get out of bed and do some light stretching. Warm that body up for the day to come. Next, give your body some quick fuel; drink a tall glass of water and, if you need some caffeine, your morning coffee or tea. You should do this before you brush your teeth.
Speaking of which, let’s hit those chompers properly. Brush your teeth with a clean toothbrush and good toothpaste. Be careful when you’re brushing; if you brush too light, you won’t get any toothpaste on your teeth. Brush too hard, and you could hurt your gums. Dental hygiene is important, so make sure you’re brushing every last corner of your mouth for at least a solid two minutes. After that, floss, either with normal floss string or floss picks. Same rule, don’t go too hard on it. When that’s dealt with, wash your face. Even if you’re about to take a shower, you want to get a proper scrub in that particular area before you focus elsewhere. For your morning shower, consider making it a cold one. Yeah, it’s unpleasant, but it’ll wake you up and get your blood circulating.
After all that’s done, get dressed and have yourself a healthy, hearty breakfast. Congratulations, you’re ready to greet the day! Even if that just means sitting down at your own home desk, it’s good to maintain a healthy routine even when you don’t need to.
