When it comes to your body, there are few things as important as your heart. Your heart is the central engine that deploys oxygenated blood to your entire body, powering your muscles and organs and keeping you warm. Of course, you need to take good care of your heart to ensure all of those processes run nice and clean.
If you’d like to show your heart a little love, and it’s always a good time for it, why not blend up a bright and colorful smoothie loaded with fresh berries? Fresh fruit, and berries especially, are loaded with antioxidants that keep your blood flowing smoothly, which in turn keeps your heart strong and healthy! For added fun, you can also add in some protein powder for a great post-workout snack.
We’ve got a quick and easy recipe for a simple berry protein smoothie. All you need is a blender and these five ingredients:
- 1 cup milk (non-dairy substitutes work too!)
- 1/2 a frozen banana, sliced up
- 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup of frozen blackberries
- 1 tbsp of your favorite protein powder (any kind is fine, though pea protein might keep the flavor more consistent)
All you gotta do is dump all of that stuff into a blender, put the top on, and blend it up until it reaches your preferred consistency. Pour it into a glass, stick a straw in, and drink up in good health. Your heart will definitely thank you for it!
